IPL 2024 was set to be the last season for some of the cricketers. Although they did not officially announce it, they had hinted on many occasions that IPL 2024 could be their last IPL campaign. Also, with the Mega Auction likely to happen before IPL 2025, the decision of these cricketers would have been strengthened. That said, it is still not clear as to how retentions would happen before the next auction. Hence, these cricketers would anyways be sold only at their market value. Considering that they are in good form in the ongoing campaign, naturally, these cricketers might now think twice about retiring from the competition. Here, we take a look at the list of two players who could reconsider their IPL retirement after their superb form in IPL 2024.

1) Dinesh Karthik

It is inspiring how DK has been doing so well for RCB in IPL 2024. After his poor run last season, many expected him to retire before IPL 2024. However, he is still going strong.

Considering his age, two more years for him may not be a big thing. He is an Indian wicket-keeper finisher and players of this attributes are important. Hence, he could reconsider his retirement decision.

2) MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is one of the players who could reconsider their IPL retirement after their superb form in IPL 2024. He is the oldest cricketer in the league but he is also one of the best six-hitters. Compared to the likes of Daryl Mitchell and Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni has been doing well for CSK in the death overs.

With captaincy now having been transferred to Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni can experiment with his playing attributes. It will be a hard call for CSK to retain him if there is a mega auction. However, if there are RTMs or if there is a retention at a low fee, MS Dhoni not retiring could be a possibility.
