‘Man Management Is Critical’-Shahid Afridi Talks About Pakistan Team’s Chances In The ICC World T20 2022

Shahid Afridi, a former cricketing superstar who won the World Cup, feels that the current Pakistani side has all they need to be successful in the Twenty20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia. He also gave the group the advice to concentrate more on the man-management rather than the training sessions since the present squad already had enough experience competing on an international level.

After going through a terrible spell over the previous decade, the Pakistani cricket team has made a remarkable return as one of the top cricketing countries in the world. They have a combined standing of third place in the ODI and T20I categories of the ICC rankings. When it comes to individual accomplishments, great players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are now ranked first and second, respectively, in the ICC T20I player rankings. Afridi believes that the squad now has a strong lineup of players in all of the departments who are equipped with the necessary talents and that they just need to be handled.

What did Shahid Afridi say?

“The squad that will compete in the 2022 World Cup in Australia has all of the necessary qualities, including strong bowlers, all-rounders, and players who can play aggressive cricket. Because the pitches in Australia are of a high standard as well, I have high hopes for this team’s performance. Management is the most crucial aspect, and coaching follows after that. The guys have previously played international cricket, therefore it is all about controlling them,” Shahid Afridi said to the Pakistani media.

In 2007, the first year of the Twenty20 World Cup, Pakistan made it to the finals, but they were ultimately defeated by their fiercest rivals, India. Afridi was a member of both of the team’s World Cup finals appearances, which led to the team’s victory in the second edition of the World Cup in 2009. He spoke about how everyone believed in the team’s captain, Younis Khan, and backed him in his efforts to lead them to victory in 2009.

“Despite having a rough beginning, the seniors and captain played a very crucial part in making sure that the rest of the squad stayed focused. We were all behind Younis Khan, even though he was the one in charge of the team,” he said.

The 2018 Twenty20 World Cup will get off in Melbourne, Australia, and Pakistan’s opening encounter is slated to be against India at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. During the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup, Pakistan defeated India in the group stage matchup but fell to Australia in the semi-final matchup. This was Pakistan’s first victory against India in any World Cup competition.
