Parallel to the India vs England Test series, the Ranji Trophy is also happening. In a few days, the semi-finals of the competition would happen. As the tournament heats up, it becomes important for the teams to have the strongest squads. Interestingly, some of the players from these teams are with the Indian Team currently. Having sealed the series, it would be a wise decision for the management to release the players so that they get to play under pressure and develop further. On that note, here, we take a look at two players in the current squad who should be released to play in the Ranji Trophy semifinals.

1) Rajat Patidar – Madhya Pradesh

It has been a forgettable outing for Rajat Patidar in the last three games. He has failed severely and it would take a long time before he gets his chance again with Team India. If KL Rahul or Virat Kohli is available, they would replace him or Devdutt Padikkal could make his debut.

Nevertheless, it would be better for both Rajat and Madhya Pradesh if the player featured in the semi-final. He would be a strong addition to the batting line-up. A player like Rajat just needs some confidence and he could attain that at a place where he has done well before.

2) Washington Sundar – Tamil Nadu

Washington Sundar is one of the players in the current squad who should be released to play in the Ranji Trophy semifinals. Tamil Nadu has qualified for the semi-finals after a very long time.

Axar Patel is himself on the bench. Even if any of the spinners get injured on the morning of the match, Axar would be sure to replace him. Hence, Sundar might not have a role. It would be better for him to play in a pressure game in the Ranji Trophy.
