Ajinkya Rahane’s last Test appearance was against the Proteas back in January 2022. Since then, he fell out of favour with the selectors and is currently playing domestic cricket.

The veteran cricketer recently made the headlines after he scored a stupendous knock against the Assam cricket team in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament. He chipped in with a magnificent 191 and drew plaudits for his performances.

Netizens expected that he would make a comeback to the Test team in the near future. However, the selectors didn’t consider him in the project while announcing the squad for the first two Tests against Australia.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane expressed his delight after he was purchased by Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2023 min-auction which was held in Kochi on December 23, 2022.

While speaking to Sportstar, Ajinkya Rahane said he is literally happy that the four-time IPL champions got him in the auction. CSK bought Rahane for his base price of INR 50 lakh.

Furthermore, Rahane said he is looking forward to learning more from MS Dhoni in the sixteenth edition of the IPL. Rahane, who is a natural leader himself drew plaudits for leading Team India to a 2-1 historic Test series win over Australia.

The fact that he was able to lead the nearly third-string team to a sensational Test series win against Australia speaks huge volumes about his captaincy. Rahane has plenty of experience in the IPL

He has played 158 games in the lucrative tournament wherein he scored 4074 runs at an average of 30.9. Notably, he has smashed two centuries and 28 half-centuries to his name, maintaining a strike rate of 120.7.

It will be quite interesting to see how Rahane goes about his business when he plays for CSK in the next season. Chennai Super Kings finished 9th on the IPL 2022 points table and will be looking forward to starting the next season on a positive note.
