The Indian ODI squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series was announced. There were a lot of surprises in the team. A few players were making a comeback after a long gap. Here, we take a look at the list of two Indians who will play an ODI after a gap of almost 5 years against Sri Lanka.

1) Shivam Dube (last ODI in Dec 2019)

When he was in RCB, Team India tried to explore a new option for the pace-bowling all-rounder slot. That is when Shivam Dube got a chance in both the ODI and the T20I squads. Now, after close to a gap of five years, he has earned a spot back in the ODI Team.

It was more because Hardik Pandya is unavailable for the series. India would need a sixth bowling option and in ODIs, Shivam can be a decent bet with the ball. It will also be an opportunity for him to the take his career to the next level. If he has a good run in this series in both the departments, he could be an option for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

2) K Khaleel Ahmed (last ODI in Aug 2019)

K Khaleel Ahmed is one of the Indians who will play an ODI after a gap of almost 5 years against Sri Lanka. It appears that India is desperate for some good left-arm seam options in the Indian Team. Both Arshdeep Singh and Khaleel Ahmed have been selected in the ODI squad.

It was as a youngster that Khaleel made his debut for Team India. He played in a couple of ODIs before he lost his spot in the side. That said, he has now become a better bowler. Especially with the new ball, he has the ability to take wickets on a consistent basis. Hence, his selection is justified.
