It will be India vs Australia in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. This game happened at the summit clash back in 2003, as well. It was a disappointing result for India then. The team lost to the Aussies by a big margin. It is a loss that India took a lot of time to recover from. There is now a chance to make amends. Interestingly, a few members from that squad are still present with Team India, although in different roles. Here, we take a look at two Indians in the 2003 ODI World Cup squad who are currently involved with Team India.

1) Rahul Dravid – Head Coach

Rahul Dravid is the Head Coach of the side. It is under him that the team has reached so far in the tournament. A big part of the credit for this flawless performance must go to him.

Dravid was a crucial part of the Indian Team back then. While he was the vice-captain, he was also the wicket-keeper. However, that day was not great for him, as well. Nevertheless, he now has a chance to erase that memory with a strong show on Sunday.

2) Ajit Agarkar – Chief Selector

Ajit Agarkar is one of the Indians in the 2003 ODI World Cup squad who are currently involved with Team India. The Mumbai pacer was then a constant part of the ODI setup. However, he was not a part of the playing XI on that day. Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath and Ashish Nehra had formed the pace attack.

Currently, Ajit is the Chief Selector of the side. This role has been controversial in recent times. However, Ajit has done a wonderful job so far. He has also been transparent, which has been very refreshing to see. If India wins the World Cup, he would have had a big role to play.
