Tom Curran suffered a knee injury in the recent IPL. As per reports, he might miss out on IPL 2024, as well. If RCB wants a like-to-like replacement, there are some well-known bowling all-rounders whom they can consider. However, they must be aware of their current form and their recent displays in the IPL. On that note, here, we take a look at three players RCB must not sign as a replacement if Tom Curran gets ruled out of IPL 2024.
1) Jason Holder
Many fans on social media expect Jason Holder to be Tom Curran‘s replacement at RCB. It is natural to expect that because Jason has played IPL recently and can contribute well in both departments of the game.
However, it needs to be noted that the West Indian all-rounder has been in poor form for a few months now. Even in IPL 2023, his bowling was mediocre and he hardly made a contribution with the willow. At Chinnaswamy, it could be even tougher for him.
2) Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan is one of the players RCB must not sign as a replacement if Tom Curran gets ruled out of IPL 2024. Despite being consistent in the IPL, Jordan has received gigs at CSK and most recently at Mumbai Indians.
Considering he is from England and RCB’s think-tank is from England, there is a possibility that Jordan could have a chance. However, for a few years now, the English pacer has failed to do well in the IPL. Again, at Chinnaswamy, bowling gets difficult and it will be even tougher for the player.
3) Sean Abbott
Recency bias, especially with Australian cricketers is a thing in the IPL. Andy Flower has seen Sean Abbott from close quarters and he could consider him a good bowling all-rounder.
A former RCB player, Abbott seems to not be ready for the IPL. Even in his recent stints, he did not do well. This should be one of the factors of consideration.
