Lucknow Super Giants employs many former Royal Challengers Bangalore players at the moment. The likes of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Quinton de Kock all previously played for the Bengaluru-based outfit. Now, Lucknow has further added two more members who were part of RCB before. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two former RCB players whom LSG signed for IPL 2024.
1) David Willey
David Willey played a crucial role for RCB in the last two seasons. Whenever Josh Hazlewood was not available, he took the task of sharing the new ball with Mohammed Siraj. He was good at most games. He even had some decent batting performances for the outfit.
At LSG, Willey is likely to be the backup for Mark Wood. Yes, unlike Wood, Willey may not be an all-phase bowler but if Wood is unavailable for the last few matches, Willey could come in and an Indian bowler could be used in the middle-overs.
2) Devdutt Padikkal (Traded from Rajasthan Royals)
Devdutt Padikkal is also one of the former RCB players whom LSG signed for IPL 2024. The Karnataka batter made his debut for RCB a few seasons ago. His first two campaigns were brilliant and then, he had to be released by the franchise. At Rajasthan Royals, DDP got the going difficult. He was made to play in the middle-order and that affected his form.
Now, he is likely to open the batting at LSG. KL Rahul is all set to bat in the middle-order. This means that there is an opening at the top. Yes, he has his issues against spin but in the last few weeks, DDP has been in excellent form in domestic cricket. The upcoming season will be vital if he has to make a comeback to the Indian Team.
