WI vs IND 2022: With a convincing victory by 68 runs against West Indies in the first Twenty20 International match played at Brian Lara Stadium, India has established a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. In the first Twenty20 International (T20I) encounter of the five-match series versus West Indies, which took place on Friday at Brian Lara Stadium, Rohit Sharma made an impressive comeback as the captain of India. After setting them the task of chasing down 191, the Men in Blue could only let the hosts reach 122/8 in their innings. On a day when the Indian bowlers had a lot of fun, no West Indian batter was able to score more than 20 runs. Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ravi Bishnoi picked up three wickets in total. Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravi Bishnoi, altogether picked up five wickets.
WI vs IND 2022: India wins the first T20I
Nicholas Pooran was the one who won the toss early on in the match, and he asked India to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, two players who had not previously opened for the Men in Blue, were an unexpected new opening duo. The Mumbai Indians combo did not let their fans down, hitting 44 runs off of 28 balls before Surya was removed by Akeal Hosein, the best bowler for the West Indies (4-0-14-1). Surya scored 24 runs off of 16 balls.
Shreyas Iyer, was out without scoring, while Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya, who batted next, did not contribute much to the team’s success either. Dinesh Karthik then produced a much-needed breezy cameo of 41 not out off of 19 balls to lead India to 190/6. However, Rohit continued to hold one end, hitting 64 runs off of 44 balls.
The next Twenty20 international match between these two teams is scheduled to take place on August 1 at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
