The newly elected BCCI president Roger Binny has said that one of his priorities as BCCI president will be to look after those cricketers who didn’t play too much of domestic cricket, played just one or two Ranji trophy games and are not in great financial condition now.

Roger Binny was talking to the India Today journalist Rajdeep Sardesai on his Prime Time show yesterday and when he was asked about his priorities as BCCI president, he said injuries and pitches are, of course, the two areas that he would like to look into, but apart from that, he will also see if he can help those unknown players who represented their state teams for very little time and are now struggling with finances.

Sardesai also asked Binny about his stand on the Asia Cup 2023, to which Binny said that the Indian team always needs clearance from the government if they have to go to some other country and unless and until the government of India gives them the clearance, it’s not possible for the Indian cricket team to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

Roger Binny also recalled that when India had to host Asia Cup in 2018 and Pakistan was unable to tour India because of political issues, India had allowed UAE to host the tournament, even though India had the hosting rights.  The same is the case here and it’s nothing new in terms of the Asia Cup.

India can’t tour Pakistan without government clearance: Roger Binny

Binny also stressed the fact that India might have toured Pakistan in the past, but whenever it happened, it always happened after the government clearance and without their clearance, the tour of Pakistan is impossible.

Apart from Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan also has to host the Champions Trophy 2025. While BCCI has made its stance clear on Asia Cup, they haven’t said anything about Champions Trophy 2025 yet.
