“We have seen this before and they have done it again”, Twitter reacts as Pakistan suffer a batting collapse on Day 2 of Multan Test

After losing the first Test, Pakistan wanted to do well in the second game at Multan. They started well by dismissing all English batters for just 281. They needed a strong batting show to dominate the game. However, the batting unit failed to step up. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Pakistan suffer a batting collapse on Day 2 of the Multan Test.

Pakistan struggling in the Multan Test

The hosts actually started well with the bat. Although they lost two early wickets, Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel stitched a wonderful partnership for them. While the skipper scored 75 runs, Shakeel made 63 runs. Once they got out, the wheels came off the batting unit. At one point, the team was 142-2 and in a short while, the team ended up at 169-8.

It was a poor batting display by the middle and lower order of the squad. Knowing they had to get a considerable lead to stay in the game, with time on their side, they could have dictated the game. However, they fell victim to a fine spell of bowling by Jack Leach. Joe Root also contributed with two wickets, which further halted the momentum for Pakistan. They would now need the last few batters to make a few runs so that they will at least reduce the size of the lead to England. Abrar Ahmed has to step up again if Pakistan has to win the match. Since England can score fast, they can quickly set a top target and in the last innings, unless the likes of Babar Azam step up, it can be all over for the hosts.
