Kieron Pollard, who has been the main pillar of Mumbai Indians’ success in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will now tilt his focus towards the ILT20 and would be hoping to continue the legacy of Mumbai Indians even in the overseas league.

Since joining Mumbai Indians in 2010, Pollard has played an instrumental role in the making team the most successful in IPL. He has been an aggressive force against the bowlers in the league.

Pollard’s MI teammate Suryakumar Yadav feels that the all-rounder will do a great job and his leadership will inspire the MI Emirates squad. Speaking about the same, he said:

“I feel as a leader Pollard has been very calm, and composed and gives everyone a chance to express themselves on the field whether the team is under the pump or even if we are on top. We felt very comfortable when he led MI and I am sure he will do the same thing for the MI Emirates.”

“His transition from captain to batting coach, I don’t know how it’s going to be,” Suryakumar Yadav on Pollard becoming MI’s coach

Pollard has retired from IPL. He, however, will continue to remain part of the MI as he will be their batting coach. Suryakumar also spoke about the same, he added:

“His transition from captain to batting coach, I don’t know how it’s going to be (smiles). I am out of words right now. Until last year he was playing and now suddenly him talking about batting, watching us batting in the nets is going to be a completely different experience. But I am sure it is going to be exactly how he plays his cricket. A different brand of cricket. He’s always been a livewire on the field, while batting and fielding. The same energy will flow when he is the batting coach as well. Very excited to have him.”
