Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has pointed out the reason behind David Miller’s success after he won a game for South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2022 against India. He said that it’s because of MS Dhoni’s tactics to take the game deep has taken the southpaw’s batting to another level.
“The lesson that MS Dhoni has taught the rest of the world, we are suffering because of that,” Ajay Jadeja after India’s loss to South Africa
India suffered a disappointing 5-wicket loss against South Africa in their third game of the T20 World Cup 2022. One of the main reasons behind their loss was the left-handed batter, David Miller. The southpaw kept his calm despite the pressure being on and took his side home.
Chasing the target of 133 runs, South Africa was left tottering at 24/3 and it seemed that they would tumble more under pressure. But ‘ice cool’ David Miller held his nerves and along with Aiden Markram (51) steadied the Proteas ship.
They together smashed 76 runs partnership and made sure that their side get into a strong position. While Markram looked a bit rusty, Miller took the game deep and then unleashed himself, in the end, to help South Africa displace India from the top spot in Group B.
Miller remained unbeaten on 59 runs with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. He targeted R Ashwin to ease the pressure and then eventually guided his side to the 5-wicket victory in Perth.

Ajay Jadeja pointed out Miller’s mantra to success. He feels that he has adopted MS Dhoni’s tactics to take the game deep and because of that India is suffering. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he said:
“What David Miller has done with his game and taken it to another level is not by adding any shots or adding anything else. He’s become calmer and waits for the opposition to make a mistake by taking the game deep. The lesson that MS Dhoni has taught the rest of the world, we are suffering because of that.”
“Rohit Sharma was not able to use his resources well,” Ajay Jadeja
India played with only 5 desired bowlers in the game against South Africa. This was one of the main reasons behind South African pacers going after R Ashwin.
Ajay Jadeja feels skipper Rohit Sharma was able to use his resources well as he didn’t have many options. Adding to his point, he said:
“It felt like Rohit Sharma was not able to use his resources well or he was kind of stuck with using a particular bowler in a particular position. Arshdeep Singh could have bowled three overs at the top, but maybe he thought that then who else would take care at the backend. There are certain factors which are still not comfortable.”
India win next face Bangladesh on Wednesday (2nd November) in Adelaide.
Now that's what you call a finisher (not like the fake finishers we often see):
