Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has named his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) playing XI. What caught the attention of many was he left out the most successful skipper of the league Rohit Sharma whereas every other big name was picked by him.

The Indian Premier League 2023 is about to begin. The league will kick start from 31st March and the preparations are going with great pomp. With all the fuss about the tournament, Jaffer while speaking on Crictracker’s show ‘Not Just Cricket’ has named his all-time playing XI of the tournament.
He picked Universe Boss Chris Gayle and KL Rahul as the two openers in his team. Both the batters have performed exceptionally well at the top of the order for the franchises they have played for and have taken their team to great heights. Both have played over 100 matches and have smashed truckloads of runs.
Jaffer then picked Virat Kohli at No.3 and followed it up with Suresh Raina at No.4. Baith Kohli and Raina are among the leading run-getters of the tournament and are considered as the legends of the league. They have piled up over 5000 runs in the league and have won many games for their side.

The former Indian cricketer picked Ms Dhoni at No.5. He will also captain the side and will also don the gloves. The keeper batter has been the best finishers in the game of cricket and has been a stalwart of the IPL. He is the second most successful captain in the IPL with 4 titles to his name. The legacy of Dhoni is unmatchable.
Jaffer then picked Andre Russel, Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan as the three all-rounders in the team. The brutal trio has been fantastic with both bat and ball in the league and has changed the game for their side within the span of just a few balls. These three being in one team can outclass any opposition.
R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are the two frontline spinners in Jaffer’s team whereas Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga are the two frontline pacers. The quartet of Ashwin Chahal, Bumrah and Malinga is among the leading wicket-takers in the league.
