Virat came to bat when India was tumbling at 11/1. He along with skipper Rohit Sharma (53) steadied the Indian innings and smashed 73 runs partnership for the second wicket. However, after the opener was back in the hut, he took the matters into his own hands and took bowlers to the cleaners.

Kohli along with Suryakumar Yadav (51*) batted sensationally and accelerated the Indian innings and helped his side out on a decent total of 179 runs on the board. The duo stitched 95 runs partnership to help put pressure on the opposition.

Kohli remained unbeaten on the score of 62 runs from 44 balls and played with a strike rate of 140.9. His innings of 62* runs were laced with 3 fours and 2 sixes. His innings helped India post a competitive total on the board. During his innings, the right-hander also became the second leading run scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup.
