Zimbabwe beats Pakistan by 1 run in Perth to bag important two points
In what was a massive moment in T20 World Cup 2022, Zimbabwe Cricket Team pounded Pakistan by 1 run to bag important two points to their name. While this win kept the Zimbabwe team in the hunt for semi-finals, the chances to qualify for the Babar Azam-led are dented.
On account of vital contributions from Wesley Madhevere (17) and Craig Ervine (19), Sean Williams (31) and a finish by Ryan Burl (10*) and Brad Evans (19) helped Zimbabwe post a moderate total of 130 runs on the board.
At that moment it seemed that it’ll be a piece of cake for Pakistan as they had restricted Zimbabwe to a low total and had momentum on their side with Mohammad Wasim Jr and Shadab Khan picking 4 wickets amongst them.
But chasing the target, Pakistan came into quick pressure as they lost three quick wickets in Babar Azam (4) and Mohammad Rizwan (14) and Iftikhar Ahmed (5) early as they found themselves tumbling at 23/2.
Shan Masood (44) and Shahdab Khan (17) kept their side in the hunt but Zimbabwe yet again came on the top and held their nerves well to clinch the game on the last ball by 1 run.
As Zimbabwe won the game, many fans and pundits congratulated them. Interestingly they brought in Mr Bean’s angle to it. To the reference, a fan from Zimbabwe ahead of the match issued a warning to Pakistan and said that his team will thump the opponent as they sent them a fake Mr Bean for a local show.
His tweet gained huge limelight and it soon turned out into a meme feast with fans of both sides engaging in a war. If this was not enough as Zimbabwe won, their President also took a dig at Pakistan by including that Mr Bean angle. Taking to his official Twitter account, he said:
