Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is best known for his potential to score runs for the team on a consistent basis across all formats of the game. No matter which format he is playing, he adapts to the situation and goes about his work.

This is precisely the reason why he is one of the most-successful all-format batsmen in the present era. Pakistan’s run-scoring machine has played a plethora of impactful innings as a batsman.

Needless to say, the same hasn’t been said about his captaincy skills. Recently, he came under fire for his inability to produce a spark in the team’s performances as far as Test cricket is concerned.

Under his captaincy, Pakistan didn’t win even a single game in the previous calendar year. However, as a batsman, he boasts very good statistics. He has a staggering batting average of over 60 in ODIs and is also on top of the ICC ODI batsman’s rankings.

Moreover, Babar Azam has a batting average in excess of 45 in Test cricket and a batting average of more than 40 in the truncated version of the game. Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi, during a discussion on Samaa TV, made a huge claim about Babar Azam’s batting.

Shahid Afridi echoed that Babar Azam falls behind in terms of strike rate and his inability to finish the innings. Afridi further added that this is the reason why Babar Azam doesn’t reach the levels of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Meanwhile, Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq who plays alongside Babar Azam in international cricket told Shahid Afridi that there had been discussions regarding the same and Babar Azam accepts his shortcomings.

Imam Ul Haq further added that in order to reach the levels of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, Babar Azam needs to do proper research and work on sharpening the strike rate.
