In what has been the latest development, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has become the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC T20 rankings. The right-hander achieved the feat on Wednesday (2nd November).
Suryakumar has been going to the purple patch. He has been setting the stage on fire with his impressive brand of cricket. His aggressive style of play has been one of the main reasons behind India’s success of late.
He has been breathing fire in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 as well. After a moderate outing in Pakistan, where he scored 15 runs, Suryakumar Yadav smashed two consecutive half-centuries against the Netherlands and South Africa.
While their innings against the Netherlands was more of a ‘continuing the momentum’ innings, he was was the lone warrior for his side in the game against South Africa. While other batters failed to cross even 15 runs, Suryakumar smashed a half-century in tough conditions and helped his side put a decent total on the board.
Following his innings against South Africa, he surpassed Mohammad Rizwan and Devon Conway to get the number 1 ICC ranking.
