Pakistan defeats New Zealand by 5 wickets to win the Tri-Series

New Zealand and Pakistan clashed in the final of the Tri-Series. Opting to bowl first, the visitors had a sensational start as they removed both the Kiwi openers for just 49 runs inside in the power play. But after that skipper, Kane Williamson chipped in with the bat at a crucial stage and scored 59 runs in 38 balls.

Glenn Phillips (29) and Mark Chapman (25) and James Neesham (17) then provided the finishing touches as New Zealand ended with a competitive total of 163/7 on the board. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with the figures of 2/22.

Chasing the target, Pakistan had a similar start as New Zealand had. They lost three quick wickets in Babar Azam (15), Shan Masood (19) and Mohammad Rizwan (34) for just 74 runs. At that moment, it seemed that the hosts would lose as both their star batters were back in the hut.
