England‘s brilliant and aggressive batting exploits in Test cricket this season have made their nickname, “Bazzball,” a household word.

Defining Bazzball: Right now, this is the biggest mystery in cricket. All thanks to England’s revolutionary approach to batting in the longest format of the game.

Brendon McCullum‘s hiring as England’s Test coach has been a game-changer for the national team. Not very long ago, England’s red-ball cricket team went through a terrible stretch.

As a consequence of England’s recent string of dismal Test match performances, Ben Stokes has taken over as captain and appointed McCullum as coach. Additionally, since that time, everything about England has changed drastically. Five consecutive Tests have been won since Stokes and McCullum were appointed as head coach and captain respectively, including three victories over England, one against India, and one against Pakistan on the road.

For all three games, England’s fourth-inning chase totaled more than 250 runs. The 378 runs they needed to win were easily achieved against India. The amazing success of Stokes and company in Test cricket this season has piqued interest in the newly formed moniker Bazzball. The recent English successes have been credited to Bazzball.

The rest of the world may be slow to catch on, but the word has gained significant traction in Britain. They can’t stop talking about it among English commentators, coaches, players, and fans.

On his Twitter account, England fast bowler, Stuart Broad recently wrote that he does not like using the term ‘BazzBall’ as he knows Brendon McCullum is not a fan of that term. So, he asked the fans to find a different name for that style.

He tweeted: “I don’t like using ‘BazBall’ as I know he’s not a fan of the word/phrase but what else can we call the style? All opinions welcome.”
