The transition from being a net bowler to becoming a bowler in the IPL is a very important one for the player. While a few make it, many fail on the way. Usually, this transition takes time but for some cricketers, it just takes a few seasons to take this step. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three net bowlers two years ago who are leading pacers in IPL 2024.
1) Mohit Sharma
He is the same player who was once in the running for the Purple Caps on a consistent basis. However, he had a bad run in form and hence, he failed to get an IPL contract. However, in IPL 2022, despite being a capped cricketer, he signed up as a net bowler for Gujarat Titans.
It was in IPL 2023 that Mohit Sharma’s hard work paid off. He was signed at the auctions and Mohit had a terrific campaign. If not for Ravindra Jadeja’s heroics, he might have led GT to its second straight title. Now, he is the most reliable pacer for GT in IPL 2024.
2) Harshit Rana
Just like Mohit, even Harshit Rana was once a net bowler at GT. However, fate had different plans for the talented pacer from Delhi.
There were some injury issues at KKR and before long, Harshit got his chance at IPL. Now, in IPL 2024, he is one of the leading pacers for KKR. He will mostly play all the games for the franchise in IPL 2024.
3) Akash Madhwal
Akash Madhwal is one of the net bowlers two years ago who are leading pacers in IPL 2024. He is yet to play in IPL 2024 but he is so talented that he cannot remain long on the bench.
Akash was the lead death bowler for MI in IPL 2023. He showed good maturity and variations in the death overs. Not long ago, he was a net bowler at RCB.
