The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the unchanged squad for the third and fourth Test against Australia. The Indian team management felt that there was absolutely no need for any change for the next two Tests.

Team India have decimated Australia’s confidence levels by putting up a strong and complete performance in the first two games of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. India won the Test opener by an innings and 132 runs in Nagpur.

After that, they went on to win the second Test by six wickets in Delhi and took a 2-0 lead in the series. With the special win, India also retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy series for a record fourth-straight time.

When the BCCI announced the squad for the last two Tests, KL Rahul didn’t get the vice-captaincy tag under his name. Apparently, KL Rahul has been sacked as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team.

If reports doing the rounds are to be believed, then KL Rahul is also set to be axed for the third Test as well. KL Rahul’s dismal form might have been the actual reason behind his removal from the vice-captain’s post. KL Rahul scored 20, 17 and 1 so far in the BGT series.

Seemingly, it is Rohit Sharma who will be deciding who will be his deputy in the Indian cricket team. It is said that Rohit Sharma will be deciding who will be next vice-captain anytime soon.

The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer have a chance to be a vice-captain of the Indian Test team. Shreyas Iyer could be the one for the future and it is the right time for the team management to name him as the vice-captain such that he can pick up important lessons from now itself.
