Right from the word go, Delhi got into the action for an opener. They went after Shikhar Dhawan but lost out to him. However, they got it right when they started bidding for Warner. Eventually, they signed him up at INR 6.25 Cr. Considering the prices of other players at the event, Warner’s contract was a steal. Most importantly, Warner comes in with loads of experience and he will be the perfect partner for Prithvi Shaw at the top of the order. The Aussie will also help Rishabh Pant in the leadership department. The fact that Warner has already played for Delhi in the past will also help the franchise once the tournament returns to the home-and-away format.
Wasim Jaffer reacts to DC’s smart signing
Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer, who recently quit from his post at Punjab Kings, reacted hilariously to the signing made by Delhi Capitals. He said that even for bargainers like Delhi people, the deal done to get Warner on board was at another level. Here is what he had to say:

Meanwhile, former Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer has landed at Kolkata Knight Riders while Shikhar Dhawan will play for Punjab Kings from IPL 2022. Another former DC player Kagiso Rabada will join Dhawan at PBKS. Delhi still has a few gaps to fill and it needs to be seen as to whom they would go after.
