Not long ago, KL Rahul picked up a nasty injury on the field while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Lucknow Stadium. It didn’t look good at all as the LSG captain was taken off the field with physio’s assistance.

Later on, it was confirmed that KL Rahul will no longer play his part for Lucknow Super Giants for the remainder of the Indian Premier League. Krunal Pandya has been leading the team in KL Rahul’s absence.

KL Rahul, in his social media post has also confirmed that he is absolutely gutted that he won’t be able to turn up for the ICC WTC Final 2023 against Australia at the Kennington Oval in London.

In his post, he made it clear that he will be undergoing a thigh surgery, which will take him more time to recover. He further added that he will be going through rehabilitation and recovery process in the coming weeks.

Ishan Kishan replaces injured KL Rahul for WTC Final 2023

Since KL Rahul has been ruled out of the WTC Final 2023, the Indian cricket team management took a bold call by announcing Ishan Kishan as the replacement.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan is yet to make his international Test debut as the wicket-keeper batsman. He was the part of Indian squad in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but he was not featured in playing XI.

Ishan Kishan has played 48 games in first-class cricket. He has scored 2985 runs at an average of 38.76 including 6 tons and 16 fifties. Meanwhile, the majority of the fans reckon that the selectors should have picked Saha who has enough experience under his belt.

Wriddhiman Saha 40 Tests for India wherein he scored 1353 runs including 3 centuries and 6 fifties at an average close to 30.
