IPL 2023 Mini Auctions: 3 teams that can target Cameron Green

Share the post

In the recent series against India, Cameron Green opened the batting for Australia. He was in top form as he tore apart the Indian bowling attack in most games. His intent was excellent and that put the opposition on the backfoot early on. For a player who is considered a bowling all-rounder, it was a terrific show by him. IPL teams need versatile players and with Green being in good form, he is likely to go for a big sum at the IPL 2023 Auctions. Here, we take a look at three teams that can target Cameron Green in IPL 2023 Mini Auctions.

1) Kolkata Knight Riders

If Alex Hales is not available in IPL 2023, too, the franchise has to explore other options for the opening slot. Cameron Green is one player who can fit the role for KKR.

Green is a good hitter of pace bowling and would be a complement for Venkatesh Iyer, who takes some time to settle. Also, with Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana being good in the middle overs, a strong start by Green would help the batting attack. With him providing a few overs, KKR can afford to play an extra batter at No.7.

2) Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings is one of the teams that can target Cameron Green in IPL 2023 Mini Auctions. It has already been reported that PBKS might look to rope in Cameron Green.

The franchise struggled with balance last season as they lacked a genuine all-rounder. Hence, they are likely to target Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green. It is not sure if Green will be effective with the bat at the death and this is one aspect PBKS must analyze.

3) Rajasthan Royals

RR often used R Ashwin at No.7 in IPL 2022 and sometimes did not use up all the overseas slots because they did not have a good all-rounder. Cameron Green can solve this problem for the franchise.

More than with the bat, Green would help the franchise in the bowling department. If required, he can be promoted in the batting order to add impetus to the innings.
