Steve Smith talks to himself while batting in the first Test against South Africa in Gabba
Australia and South Africa are currently locking horns in the first Test of the two-match series in Gabba. The game so far has been host to sensational bowling performances on a pitch, which is lush green.
Opting to bowl first, Australian bowlers were all over the South African batters and a combined bowling effort saw them bundling out the visitors for just 152 runs. However, the Proteas bowlers were also not far behind as they remove three quick wickets in David Warner (0), Usman Khawaja (11) and Marnus Labuschagne (11).
But after that, it has all been about Steve Smith. The right-hander has looked pleasing to the eyes and despite conditions being tough, he is batting staggeringly and has bailed his team out of trouble along with Travis Head.
However, not only with his batting, he caught the attention of many with his gestures on the pitch. Smith was seen talking to himself and pointing to something with his hands. It was during the 18th over when a ball hit him on the body and he was heard saying, “Have some of the smudge.”
