Things were all over the place for the Pakistan Cricket Board after an unfortunate cancellation of events that led to a massive financial loss for the PCB.
It was almost after 18 years that New Zealand travelled to Pakistan to play white-ball series. Sadly, owing to a security threat, the Blackcaps decided to pull out of the series which left Pakistan in tatters.
The unfortunate incident that stopped a brilliant series of cricket
Following the cancellation of the New Zealand series, England withdrew from their slated tours, pulling back both their men and women’s team, leaving the Pakistani cricket fans and their cricket board in tatters.
Out of all the wreckage left behind by England and New Zealand, the latest development suggests that PCB will have to shell out a staggering amount of Rs 27 lakhs for just the food bills of the security officers who were there to ensure the smooth transition of the series.
The extended 33-member squad left for Dubai on Saturday after the tournament was called off.
This is what reports had to say about Pakistan’s new ordeal
Going by the extensive reports, the security team comprised five SP’s and five hundred SSP’s that were supposed to be plying protection to the ones involved in the series.
The New Zealand cricket board stated, “The side was to play Pakistan this evening in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for a five-match T20 series. However, following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the BLACKCAPS will not continue with the tour.”
Pakistan will be starting their World Cup campaign against India on 24th October as the world gears up for the extravaganza.
