Taijul made a mess of the batsman’s stump and Pujara made his way back to the dressing room after missing his well-deserving century by 10 runs. Meanwhile, Pujara reserved the highest respect for Rishabh Pant after the first day’s play.

Pujara highlighted that Rishabh Pant makes it quite easier for the non-strikers with his attacking style of play. Pant unleashed his aggressive instinct during Day 1 where he was playing superbly well by smashing sixes and fours at will.

The southpaw hit a flurry of six boundaries and a couple of sixes before he was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz on 46. Had he been a bit extra careful in terms of his shot selection, he would have scored more runs on the day.

Meanwhile, Team India have posted 278 for the loss of six wickets in 90 overs. Shreyas Iyer was the other batsman who also played pretty well on Day 1. He chipped in with an unbeaten 82 runs with the help of 10 boundaries.
