In a positive development for the Chennai Super Kings, the team’s captain MS Dhoni has confirmed that he will continue playing for the franchise in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Ahead of tonight’s match against the Rajasthan Royals, many fans speculated whether this would be the last time fans see Dhoni playing in the yellow jersey.

When asked about his future in the Indian Premier League, Dhoni informed that he will continue to play for the Chennai Super Kings because he wants to say thank you to the fans in Chennai for their continuous support of him throughout his career. Here’s what he was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda during the brief interview at the toss:

“Definitely. It will be unfair to not play in Chennai to not to say thank you to the fans. Won’t be nice to do that to CSK fans. Hopefully, next year we’ll get the opportunity to travel so it will be like a thank you to different venues.”

MS Dhoni gave clarity on why Chennai Super Kings did not give a game to Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Many fans were shocked to see the Chennai Super Kings not giving Rajvardhan Hangargekar any matches during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He impressed the fans with his performances for India U-19s in their U-19 World Cup-winning campaign, but the Chennai Super Kings team management feels that he should work harder on his skills before playing in a tournament like the Indian Premier League.

“He is somebody we are really excited about. He’s strong and can bowl at a good pace but there are certain areas we want him to improve in,” added Dhoni.
