The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway in Maharashtra, and it has been the season of young players. Every other day fans have seen a lesser-known player rise to the occasion and deliver the goods for his team. One of them has been Sunrisers Hyderabad’s pace bowler Umran Malik.

The right-arm fast bowler has stunned the batters with his express pace. He took a five-wicket haul against the Gujarat Titans. Malik bowled a dream spell as he picked up the wickets of Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, Hardik Pandya, David Miller and Abhinav Manohar.

Four of the five dismissals were bowled out, highlighting that even the in-form batters have a tough time while playing against Umran Malik. Fans should note that Malik was not at his best when the season began, but he has gradually improved courtesy of fast-bowling coach Dale Steyn and his own hard work.

Commenting on the splendid performances from Umran, famous commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter and wrote:

God willing, I will clock 155 one day: Umran Malik

Despite Sunrisers Hyderabad’s defeat in their match against the Gujarat Titans, Umran Malik won the Man of the Match award for his five-wicket haul. Malik became one of the few players in IPL history to win the Man of the Match award when his team lost the game. Here’s what he said during a brief interview with the host broadcasters at the post-match presentation:

“I always bowl fast but I’ve been trying to bowl better lines and lengths. Plan was to rotate between between my plans. Idea was to attack the stumps and it’s worked well for me. God willing, I will clock 155 (kph) one day, hopefully it happens, but the main goal is to bowl well and pick wickets for my team.”
