Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar seems very impressed with the young pace sensation Mohammed Siraj who has made a fabulous start to his test career and is now one of India’s first choice fast bowlers, whenever they play test matches overseas.
Tendulkar was speaking on the show Backstage with Boria where he said that Siraj has got “spring in his legs”. According to Tendulkar, watching Siraj bowl, nobody can ever tell if he is bowling the first over of the day or the 90th over because it doesn’t matter at what stage of the day he is bowling, his energy level remains the same.
Recalling the debut game of Mohammed Siraj, Tendulkar said when he saw Siraj bowl for the first time for India in test match cricket last year at MCG, it just didn’t seem as if he was a debutant. The control and the maturity he bowled with, it seemed as if he was already playing test cricket for India for quite sometime.
Mohammed Siraj has been the linchpin of India’s attack in Australia and England
Mohammed Siraj has played most of his test cricket overseas and has only played a couple of test matches in India, but he has already tasted tremendous success in the longest format of the game. He had registered a 5-wicket haul in the second innings of the famous Gabba test match last year, where India beat Australia to win the Border Gavaskar series by 2-1.
Siraj, thereafter, put on another match winning performance at another historic venue on the England tour, when his two successive 4-wicket hauls in the Lord’s test match helped India bundle England out twice in a rain curtailed game and take a 1-0 lead in the series, which they further enhanced to 2-1 at Oval before the series was postponed.
Sachin Tendulkar sees a very bright future for Siraj going ahead at the international level, because of the attitude that the youngster has shown so far.
