Ahead of the India Vs Pakistan encounter in T20 World Cup 2021, the former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has made a sensational revelation that he deliberately bowled a beamer to the former Indian captain MS Dhoni in the Faisalabad test match in 2005.

MS Dhoni, who was a young player at that point of time, batted brilliantly in that game and scored a hundred for India to bail them out of a tricky situation. As soon as Dhoni came out to bat in that game, the Pakistani captain brought Shoaib Akhtar on to try and bounce Dhoni out.

As it turned out, Dhoni actually smashed Shoaib Akhtar ruthlessly and it frustrated Akhtar to an extent that he decided to come around the wicket and deliberately bowled a beamer to Dhoni at the speed of 156 KPH to injure him.

It was so deliberate that the former Pakistani fast bowler Waqar Younis, who was commentating at that point of time, called it straightaway and said it looked like it might have been deliberately bowled.

Many years down the line, Shoaib Akhtar has now himself admitted that he had bowled that beamer purposefully and it was such a fast beamer that if it had hit Dhoni, it might actually have turned out to be fatal for the former Indian captain.

Shoaib made this revelation while speaking in an event organised by India Today. Akhtar also insisted that Dhoni is a great guy whom he respects a lot and he felt really bad after bowling that beamer to him deliberately.

Dhoni was dismissed by the former Pakistan leg spinner Danish Kaneria in that test match after scoring 148 runs. It was not the only remarkable knock that the charismatic wicket-keeper batsman played on that Pakistan tour. Dhoni played a number of knocks right through the tour, both in white ball and red ball games.

Dhoni’s performances on the tour were so noticeably impressive that the then Pakistani president Parvez Musharraf had specifically praised him at the end of the ODI series.
