Team India will be playing two major events later this year and they need to be absolutely spot on with their decisions such that they can hope for a better outcome in the ICC WTC Final and ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

It has been over ten years since India last won the ICC title. Ever since their Champions Trophy glory in 2013, they failed to win another ICC title. It remains to be seen whether or not India will end their ICC drought this year.

India locked horns with Australia in the three-match ODI series recently and there were plenty of loopholes in India’s batting department. Australia exposed India’s frailties in the second and third ODI and went on to win the ODI series by 2-1.

Suryakumar Yadav who was brought in as a cover for the absence of Shreyas Iyer at the No.4 spot failed miserably in the ODI series, thus becoming the first Indian to register three golden ducks in a row.

Zaheer Khan urges Team India to rethink their batting order

Team India can’t be repeating the same mistake that they did in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019. The Men in Blue didn’t find the right man who can do justice at No.4 and they paid the price.

Meanwhile, former Indian fast bowler, Zaheer Khan has urged Team India to rethink their batting order, citing the No.4 spot and a serious conundrum like this needs to be sorted out before it’s too late.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan echoed that figuring out the No.4 spot was part of the discussion in the build-up to the ICC ODI World Cup 2019. The former paceman added that the same discussion is being talked about again four years later.

While Zaheer admitted that Shreyas Iyer is the designated choice, he urged the Indian team management to find a suitable alternative for Iyer if the latter is going to be out of the mix for a long time due to injury.
