Hardik Pandya is ruled out of the 2023 ODI World Cup. This means that India is forced to play with only five bowlers every game. Even if one bowler has a bad day or worse case if one of the bowlers has an injury issue. India will struggle big-time. To prepare for the worst situation, some of the part-time bowlers might have to step up. Here, we take a look at three Indian part-time bowlers who might have to bowl in the absence of Hardik Pandya.

1) Virat Kohli

As Rahul Dravid termed it, he is looking forward to the “wrong-footed inswinging menace” in the coming days. In fact, Virat Kohli has already bowled in this World Cup. He completed the over when Hardik Pandya had to go out due to the injury.

Virat Kohli has also been seen rolling his arm in the nets. Hence, it is likely that he might have to take the ball if any case arises in the next weeks.

2) Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer is one of the Indian part-time bowlers who might have to bowl in the absence of Hardik Pandya. Not many know that Iyer has bowled for India in all formats of the game.

A player who can bowl leg-spin and also off-spin, it will be interesting to see if he turns up as a bowler in the World Cup. India might be forced to do that if any bowler has an injury.

3) Suryakumar Yadav

SKY is Hardik Pandya’s replacement in the playing XI. Having bowled quite a bit in domestic cricket, SKY has it in him to contribute a few overs with the ball.

He has bowled right-arm off-spin and medium pace in his career so far. He would be the last in the pecking order of part-timers if India is there in such a situation.
