The 43rd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai right now, where the Royal Challengers Bangalore are battling the Gujarat Titans. It is the first-ever match between these two franchises, and Virat Kohli played an impressive innings of 58 runs.

After some failures in recent matches, Kohli took his time to settle in the middle and scored 58 runs off 53 balls against the Gujarat Titans. It is Kohli’s 10th match in IPL 2022, but the right-handed batter had not managed a fifty prior to this innings this season. In two matches, he got out on the first ball.

He made sure that he played cautiously in the initial overs and focused on building a partnership with Rajat Patidar in the match against the Gujarat Titans. Virat avoided taking the aerial route against GT and scored only one six in his 58-run inning.

Soon after he completed his maiden half-century in IPL 2022, the opposition team, Gujarat wrote on their official Twitter handle:

Virat Kohli is a great player: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly

Prior to the match between the Gujarat Titans and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly gave his opinion on the disappointing batting performances from Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma and RCB star Virat Kohli. Here’s what Ganguly had said in an interview with News18:

“They are great players and I am sure they will get back in form. I hope they start scoring runs soon. I don’t know what is going on in Virat Kohli’s head but I am sure he will regain his form and get some good runs. He is a great player.”
