Ravi Ashwin, a legendary spinner from India, has said that it is essential for Zimbabwe to have success in cricket if they are to prosper. He referred to an article that he had read regarding the state of cricket throughout the globe. The article highlighted the fact that wherever there is greater availability of money and job prospects, there is a greater likelihood of success.

Ashwin made the point that every member of India’s 15-man ODI team that is currently in Zimbabwe for the three-match ODI series has a larger paycheque in the Indian Premier League (IPL) than the total prize money that is awarded in Zimbabwe’s T20 League. He also emphasized the fact that Zimbabwe had a time when they were unable to pay player payments but that they have since cleared all of the dues with a change in management and have been on the rise ever since. He said that this is one of the reasons why they have been successful since.

What did Ravi Ashwin say?

On his YouTube channel, Ashwin recommended viewers read a fantastic piece on the current state of cricket throughout the globe. It claims that wherever there is more money, work possibilities are better, and there are more odds of players thriving. “It says that wherever there is more money, employment opportunities are better. For instance, India has sent a 15-player side to compete in Zimbabwe. Due to an injury sustained by Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed has been brought in as a last-minute substitute.

Shahbaz Ahmed is now enjoying the benefits of a lucrative deal with RCB. Although I am unaware of the specifics of his compensation, I have no doubt that it is measured in crores. On the other hand, the total prize money for Zimbabwe’s Twenty20 league, which is known as the National Premier League (NPL), is ten thousand dollars and eight and a half lakh Zimbabwean dollars. Even the most basic contract for an Indian player in the IPL costs more than 8.5 lakh rupees,” as Ashwin pointed out.

Ashwin went on to offer his additional thoughts about the topic by saying, “If Zimbabwe plays well in this series, they will gain plaudits, and it would be excellent for their cricket.” Ashwin also discussed women’s cricket during his interview. He said that women’s cricket is also on the rise in India, and he cited the fact that the Indian women’s cricket team just won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. He views it as a positive development since the former great Indian batter Mithali Raj is interested in participating in the Women’s Indian Premier League.
