Former cricketer Danish Kaneria believes that Babar Azam might be removed from his position as captain of Pakistan if the team does poorly in the Twenty20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia.

The former leg spinner described how Azam’s leadership was called into question during the most recent iteration of the Asia Cup 2022, which had just come to a close. He advocated that the right-handed batter be the one to take responsibility for ensuring that the squad has a better performance in the ICC competition.

At the Asia Cup 2022, which took place in the UAE, Babar Azam struggled to find his form. The top batter was only able to score 68 runs throughout six games and had a miserable strike rate of 107.93.

Kaneria expressed scepticism about Muhammad Wasim, the head selector for the Pakistan cricket team, for saying that the current squad has been a big factor in the team’s success. He brought up the fact that Babar Azam and company had recently been defeated by teams like Australia and Sri Lanka.

The former cricket player also brought up the fact that the Pakistani team has not turned in any noteworthy performances in white-ball cricket, and that they have struggled to dominate even while playing the Netherlands.

What did Danish Kaneria say?

The former cricket player said the following on his channel on YouTube:

“Babar Azam is not in good form right now. Concerns have also been expressed over his captaincy. I believe that this will be his last opportunity to serve as captain. Because of this, there will be a great deal of pressure on him because his position as captain might be jeopardized if the squad does not perform well. He is without a doubt a very talented player. Having said that, I do not believe that he has supported the best side.”
