The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway in Maharashtra, with 10 teams competing to capture the coveted trophy. For the first time since 2011, fans are witnessing a 10-team IPL. The two new entrants of this year’s IPL are the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants. Star players like Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami are part of the Gujarat Titans squad.

The Titans started IPL 2022 with a hat-trick of victories. They defeated the Lucknow Super Giants, the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals in their first three matches of the season. However, their winning streak came to an end last night when the Sunrisers Hyderabad beat them in Navi Mumbai.

SRH became the first team in Indian Premier League history to defeat the Gujarat Titans. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson provided an excellent start to the Hyderabad-based franchise. They played patiently in the first four overs of the run-chase before switching gears and destroying the Gujarat Titans bowling attack.

Hardik Pandya picked up one wicket for Gujarat Titans, while Rashid Khan took one, but they lost by eight wickets. Speaking to the host broadcasters after the match, Pandya said:

“I think batting-wise, maybe we were 7-10 runs short. Those 10 runs would have made a difference in the end. We had a good start with the ball but those two overs in the Powerplay brought them back into the game. We will have a good laugh and move on.”

Hardik Pandya lost his cool when Mohammed Shami did not attempt a catch

During the second innings of the match, Rahul Tripathi played a shot off Hardik Pandya’s bowling. The ball went towards Mohammed Shami, who was standing in the third man region.

It looked like Shami would go for a catch, but he stayed back and allowed the ball to come towards him after bouncing once. Skipper Hardik was not happy with the effort. Here is the video, followed by Twitter reactions to it:
