Pakistan will lock horns against mighty Australia on a historic tour next month. This will be a historic series as Australia will be on Pakistan’s shores for the first time in 24 years. There were some clouds over the series earlier, obviously due to security concerns, but the series is confirmed to go ahead now.
The CEO of Cricket Australia, Nick Hockley, confirmed this Friday (4 February). He termed the series “important for global growth and health of the game”.
“The tour will proceed for the first time in 24 years. This is a historic occasion and important for the global growth and health of the game,” said Hockley.
He also thanked the players and team management of the Australian cricket team for their help and support.

Hockley added, “I would also like to thank the Australian Cricketers’ Association and the players, coaches, support teams, staff and security experts for their collaboration in the planning for the tour. We are looking forward to an exciting series between two world-class teams.”
This will, undoubtedly, be a big occasion for the players and fans of Pakistan. Two big teams – New Zealand and England – cancelled their itinerary to Pakistan citing security reasons. It was a huge disappointment for Pakistan.
Both Cricket Australia (CA) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have worked hard to make the series possible. The two teams have played some brilliant cricket in the recent past. Once they face each other, we might witness some high-quality cricket out-and-out.
This will be a full-fledged series as the tour will consist of matches from all formats. It will kick off with the three-match Test series, continuing with three One Day Internationals and ending with a solitary T20I. The tourney will start on 4 March 2022 (Friday) – a few days after the conclusion of the ongoing Pakistan Super League.
