The England opener Jason Roy has become the first overseas player to pull out of IPL 2022 citing the bio bubble fatigue. The reports were already there yesterday that Roy had pulled out, but the Surrey right-hander himself confirmed the news today on his Twitter handle, saying whatever has been going around the world for the last 3 years has “taken a toll” on him and that’s why he has withdrawn.

In his post on Twitter today, Jason Roy thanked the Gujarat Titans management and the captain of the team, Hardik Pandya, for putting their faith in him and buying him in the auction and insisted that he would be following every single game of the Titans from home.

This isn’t the first time Roy has withdrawn from the IPL after fetching a deal, he had done the same before IPL 2020 as well. Although he has listed bio bubble fatigue as the reason of his withdrawal, many people believe it’s because of the fact that he wasn’t bought at a price he was expected to be bought that he decided to withdraw.

Jason Roy was in smashing form before the IPL mega auction

The kind of form Jason Roy was in before the IPL mega auction, it was really surprising for everyone that he didn’t attract many bids from the franchises at all. He had registered himself at the base price of 2 crore INR and that’s the price he was bought for, as Gujarat Titans were the only franchise to bid for him.

One of the reasons the franchise owners might have been a little reluctant to buy Roy is because of his tendency to pull out from the tournament at any point in time. Now, that he has withdrawn again, it’s very much possible that he finds it hard to get an IPL gig in the future and might never feature in the tournament again.

Roy has, however, urged the Gujarat Titans fans to understand and respect his decision, as he is worn out by the bubble fatigue and wants a break keeping the busy schedule ahead in mind.
