India, Australia, England, and Pakistan are the favorites to win the tournament. However, Chris Gayle feels that West Indies will be one team that will lock horns with the hosts in the summit clash. Speaking to Dainik Jagran, he said:

“I think there could be a final match between West Indies and Australia.”

Notably, West Indies will have first to place qualifier round in order to find themselves in the Super 12 stage of the tournament. But with the firepower they have, one cannot doubt their ability.  On the other hand, Australia is the defending champions, and also being the hosts they have a high chance to win.

The two nations recently also clashed in the two-match T20I series, which saw Australia thumping the visitors by the margin of 2-0. The first game was a thriller whereas the Aaron Finch-led dominated the second game.

“It will be very difficult for the West Indies team as the captain of the team is new,” says Chris Gayle

While Gayle was quick to predict the finalist of the tournament, he also admitted that it’ll be tough for West Indies as they have a relatively inexperienced side. But if they play to their potential they can be dangerous for any side. He said:

“It will be very difficult for the West Indies team as the captain of the team is new and there is no Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and Bravo in the team. Yes, it is definitely that the players who are included in the West Indies team are talented and can prove to be dangerous for any team. As everyone knows it is just a matter of adapting your strategy in the right way on match day. I hope the team plays well.”

West Indies have two T20 World Cup titles under their belt and would be hoping to clinch the second. They will kick start their campaign against Scotland on Monday (17th October).
