“Mr Underrated in IPL” – Twitter reacts after Virat Kohli labels Ambati Rayudu as the most underrated player in the IPL of all time

Ambati Rayudu is a former Indian cricketer who showcased his mettle as a middle-order batter for the Indian national cricket team. Apart from that he has plied his trade in several domestic teams in India.

The Guntur-born cricketer made his debut for the Indian cricket team back in 2013. Since then, he has played as many as 55 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 6 Twenty Internationals for the country.

He was able to quickly establish himself as of the best No.4 batters for India. Moreover, he was known for his potential to score runs pretty quickly. Besides that, he was quite exceptional as a fielder.

Ambati Rayudu also thrived in the cash-rich Indian Premier League wherein he played for both Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. He drew plaudits for his amazing batting credentials and for his ability to pace up the innings according to the situation.

Virat Kohli lavishes praise on Ambati Rayudu

The veteran announced his retirement from all forms of the game back in July 2019 owing to some issues with the national cricket team’s selection process. Nonetheless, he later came out of retirement and represented the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL in the 2020 and 2021 editions respectively.

Meanwhile, former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli spoke highly of Ambati Rayudu during a recent interview with JioCinema during the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.

Virat Kohli praised Ambati Rayudu by adding that the latter is the most underrated player in the IPL of all time. Ambati Rayudu has featured in the IPL in as many as 193 games so far.

For the record, he has aggregated 4264 runs at a strike rate of 127.44 including one century and 22 half-centuries to his credit. However, he is yet to unleash his true colours in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Having played five games so far, he scored 74 runs to his name.
