“MI faces their biggest defeat since 2017” – Twitter erupts after Gujarat Titans defeat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs to move to the 2nd spot

The five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians failed to execute their plans while locking horns with Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite winning the toss and opting to bowl first, MI bowlers were unable to keep the GT batters in check.

Gujarat Titans’ batsmen inflicted quite a lot of damage on the MI bowlers by taking the bowling attack to the cleaners with relative ease. The defending champions posted a humongous total of 207 for the loss of six wickets in their designated quota of 20 overs.

Shubman Gill top-scored with 56 off 34 balls where he composed his innings with the help of seven fours and a six. David Miller scored 46 off 22 balls including 2 fours and 4 sixes whereas Abhinav Manohar scored 42 off 21 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Gujarat Titans defeat Mumbai Indians to move to the 2nd spot

Mumbai Indians suffered their biggest defeat in the IPL since 2017 as they completely surrendered at the hands of Gujarat Titans in the 35th match of IPL 2023.

It was a high-quality and comprehensive performance from Gujarat Titans as they ticked all the boxes while locking horns with Mumbai Indians. The defending champions restricted Mumbai Indians to 152/9 in their quota of 20 overs.

Nehal Wadhera top-scored for Mumbai Indians with 40 off 21 balls where he slammed 3 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 190.48. On the contrary, Noor Ahmed took three wickets to his name for Gujarat Titans whereas the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma took 2 wickets each. Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs and climbed to the second spot in the IPL 2023 points table.
