The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway right now, where the star cricketers of world cricket are battling against each other in a 10-team tournament. Cheteshwar Pujara, who was a part of the Chennai Super Kings squad that won IPL 2021 last year in the UAE, went unsold at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
The right-handed batter had been struggling with his form in Test cricket as well and lost his spot as the number three Test batter of the Indian cricket team. So Cheteshwar Pujara decided to work on his game and inked a deal with Sussex in county cricket. He has been scoring heaps of runs in English conditions this year.
Looking at his numbers so far in the new county season, Pujara has scored a double hundred against Derbyshire. He remained not out on 201 in that innings. Soon after, he registered a century against Worcestershire, where he scored 109 runs. In the ongoing battle between Sussex and Durham, he has already scored 100 runs and is not out.
Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim had accurately stated that if an international cricketer decides to play domestic cricket, he should be able to dominate there.
“If you have played international cricket and then you are returning to domestic cricket, then I believe you should be able to dominate the league. You have to show that you’re being benefitted from playing at the international level,” Karim had said on Khelneeti podcast.
