BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the current vice-captain of the Indian Test cricket team KL Rahul will be traveling to Germany soon. Rahul is one of the members of the squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship match against the England cricket team.
The ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team began last year in England, where the visitors took a 2-1 lead in four Test matches. Just before the fifth match, there was a COVID scare in the camps, which is why the Test match was postponed.
The Indian cricket team has left for England and will play against the home team in the rescheduled fifth Test from July 1 onwards. However, a lot of things have changed since that series. At that time, Virat Kohli was the captain of the Indian cricket team, while Joe Root captained the England Test cricket team.
Now, Ben Stokes is the leader of the English side, while Rohit Sharma will play the skipper’s role for the Indian cricket team. KL Rahul has now been appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in the longest format of the game.
Will KL Rahul miss the final Test against the England cricket team?
KL Rahul played an integral role in the success that the Indian cricket team achieved in the previous four Test matches against the England cricket team. He provided excellent starts to the team at the top along with Rohit Sharma.
Rahul was set to lead the Indian cricket team in the ongoing series against the South African cricket team, but he was ruled out due to an injury. As per Cricbuzz, Rahul is set to miss the England tour as well. Here’s what Jay Shah told Cricbuzz:
“That is correct, the board is working on his fitness and he will be going to Germany soon.”
