Fans on Twitter reacted after Indian off-spinner R Ashwin said that Indian players who think they are the best should accept that there’ll always be someone better. They were left amazed by the all-rounder making such a statement and speculated that he might be taking a jibe at someone.

“In India, some think they are the best and then suddenly someone from the next generation comes and does better than them,” says R Ashwin

Be it batters or bowlers, Indian Cricket has always been blessed with many stalwarts that have taken the team to great heights. The country has produced some greats from each generation, who have successfully undergone the transition and have made team a dominant force at the world stage.

From the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, it’s fair to say that India has found a perfect replacement as each generation has passed by.

Recently R Ashwin opened up about the same. He said that players need to accept that there’s someone better than him from the youngster generation and saying “In those days when we played” won’t help.

Accept that there’ll always be someone better, only then can we stop using this statement, “In those days when we played…”.
