Under his tutelage, New Zealand ended up as the runners-up of the ICC ODI World Cup 2019. Besides that, they also reached the finals of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 tournament held in the UAE.

Let’s not forget that New Zealand defeated Team India in the final of the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship to win the ICC title. Not long ago, Kane Williamson sustained an untimely injury near the boundary rope during the match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023.

While playing for Gujarat Titans in the tournament’s opening encounter at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Kane Williamson tried to take the catch close to the boundary rope.

However, he got injured in the process as he made an awkward landing which didn’t look good at all. The physios quickly attended to him to check if he was alright where the cricketer received temporary treatment.

Later on, it was confirmed that Kane Williamson will no longer make his presence for the IPL and hence he was entirely ruled out of competition. Meanwhile, Kane Williamson is currently going through a rehab and his exact date of his return hasn’t been revealed yet.

As per reports, Kane Williamson might turn up for the ODI World Cup 2023 as a different role, if he is not fit to play. New Zealand’s head coach Gary Stead added that if Kane doesn’t recover in time, then he will bring him to India as a mentor for the marquee event.
