Twitter trolls Mumbai Indians as they have impossible task in hand to qualify for IPL playoffs

Mumbai Indians are the 5-time Champions of IPL

After KKR’s thumping victory over Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians find themselves in a situation where they literally have to pull off a miracle in their last league game to give themselves a chance of qualifying to the playoffs.

By the looks of it, it seems totally impossible because Mumbai Indians first of all have to win the toss and bat first because in case SRH wins the toss, and they bat first, Mumbai Indians will be out of the tournament automatically as they won’t be able to go past KKR’s NRR even if they chase the target down in the first over of their innings.

Mumbai Indians have to create history to qualify to the IPL 2021 playoffs

If Mumbai does bat first, then they will have to score enough runs to ensure that they end up winning the game by 170 runs. It’s only in that case that their NRR will be better than that of KKR, but it doesn’t seem realistic because no team ever in the history of the IPL has won a match by this big a margin.

After KKR’s win last night, Mumbai Indians were massively trolled on Twitter as the fans of the other teams took a dig at the 5-time champions for the impossible situation they have got themselves into.

The fans of the other teams, who have been at the receiving end from the Mumbai Indians in the last few years, were really happy that the reigning champions have tasted the failure this season and are most likely bowing out of the tournament without qualifying to the playoffs.

This is after two successful seasons where they won two back to back titles and increased their tally of titles to 5, Mumbai Indians seem to be going to miss out on the playoffs. Mumbai had the opportunity to become the first IPL team to register a hat-trick of titles, but it seems an opportunity missed now.
