Prithvi Shaw showered praise on the CSK skipper MS Dhoni for the way he finished the game last night against Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier of IPL 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Delhi Capitals batted first in the game and Shaw was the top scorer for them as he smashed 60 runs off just 34 balls to give Delhi a whirlwind start. However, Delhi lost some quick wickets in the middle period of the innings, and they were in trouble at one stage as they had come into the game with a batsman short.

However, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer batted superbly to take Delhi past 170. It was a decent score, but was still probably a little bit underpar given the fact that the ball was coming nicely onto the bat and Chennai had a deep batting lineup.

CSK had a hiccup at the start as they lost Faf du Plessis in the first over of the chase, but Robin Uthappa and Ruturaj Gaikwad made sure that CSK remained on course despite that early wicket.

And eventually at the end when the pressure was on, MS Dhoni got the job done as he has done a number of times for CSK in the past as well.

Prithvi Shaw said Dhoni did what he has done many times

According to Prithvi Shaw, watching Dhoni bat like that was not new to him or anyone in the Delhi team, as he has put on such performances so many times in the past. Shaw said he feels lucky he has the opportunity to see how Dhoni goes about his work with the bat.

“MS Dhoni is something different, everyone knows that. We have seen him finish games so many times, and it’s nothing new for him or for us to see him do that. He’s definitely a dangerous player. I feel very lucky to be in this atmosphere and get a chance to watch him as a batsman and a leader,” Shaw said after the game.

Shaw has backed his team to make a comeback from this setback in qualifier 2 where Delhi Capitals will be facing the winners of the eliminator.
