5 uncapped players who are expected to go big in IPL 2022 auction

Indian Premier League (IPL)  2021 is coming closer to its business end and has seen some magnificent individual performances throughout the season. This edition of the IPL has witnessed several youngsters stepping up for their team, displaying their skills to the world.

With the IPL 2022 mega auction coming close, these youngsters, especially the uncapped players, have made a name for themselves and are expected to be pursued by multiple franchises. Also, the addition of two new teams will give them more exposure to being picked up at the auction.

On that note, let’s take a look at the top five uncapped players who could go big at the IPL 2022 auction.

1. Venkatesh Iyer

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer got off to a flying start in the IPL. Getting his first chance in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021, he turned the tables around for KKR with his brilliant all-round performances.

Iyer has consistently delivered with the bat and has provided solid starts to KKR. He has 201 runs to his name so far in five games at an average of 40.20 and a strike rate of 134. Also, he has occasionally contributed with the ball in the absence of Andre Russell by taking three wickets in as many innings. Considering his all-round exploits, he can surely turn out to be a big buy at the IPL 2022 auction.

2. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi got into the limelight after showcasing his skills in the Under 19 World Cup, where he managed to grab 17 wickets in just six games and helped India to finish as Runners-up. His performances saw him being picked up by Punjab Kings and has now become their go-to bowler.

He had a decent IPL 2020 season taking 12 wickets in 14 games but his performances in the IPL 2021 have been brilliant. Bishnoi has 11 wickets to his name in just eight games at a mere economy of 6.35.

3. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan made his IPL debut in 2017 but was dismal with his performances, taking only five wickets in nine games across four seasons until IPL 2020. However, he upped his game in IPL 2021 and has made a brilliant comeback by overshadowing the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje in the Delhi Capitals pace bowling unit.

Avesh has 22 scalps under his belt in just 13 matches and has been a driving factor in DC’s success. Not only has he grabbed wickets on a consistent basis, but has also contained the flow of runs by bowling at an economy of just 7.14.

4. Arshdeep Singh

Another fast bowler on the list is Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has impressed everyone with his ability to adapt to the situations. He has been consistent with his lengths and has deceived the batters with his slower deliveries.

Arshdeep has grabbed 16 wickets in just 11 games, including a brilliant five-wicket haul. Despite bowling the majority of the overs at the death, he has an economy of just 8.22.

5. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel’s turnaround in the IPL 2021 has been memorable and will be remembered for ages. After being traded off to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the season, Patel stunned the cricketing community with his exceptional death bowling skills.

He has grabbed 29 wickets so far in just 13 games, which is the most by an Indian bowler in a season and also the most by an RCB bowler. Also, Patel has a five-wicket haul and a hat trick to his name in the tournament and is expected to attract big buyers at the auction.
